Hotels you can walk to

Walk times are estimates based on an average adult walking pace from the listed entrance. Actual times vary with your gate, game day crowd flow, and street closures. Google Maps may choose a different gate or omit private indoor connections; follow the listed route notes and venue access rules for onsite hotels.

The hotels on the I-35 frontage look close on a map, but the walk crosses interstate ramps with no continuous protected sidewalk, so we exclude them under the walkable-only rule.

Walking from your hotel to the gates

Walking through campus on gameday

DKR sits inside the UT campus east of the Tower, and San Jacinto Boulevard closes to traffic before kickoff. Anything on the west or north side of campus is a straightforward walk in.

Note: Add 20 minutes after a night game — the campus core and Guadalupe both back up while the crowd clears.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a hotel on the University of Texas campus?

Yes — AT&T Hotel and Conference Center is on campus at 1900 University Avenue, about a 13-minute walk to the DKR gates.

Can you walk to DKR from the hotels on I-35?

We do not count them as walkable. The route crosses interstate ramps and frontage roads without a continuous protected sidewalk.

Our walkable-only rule

Every hotel on this page has a continuous pedestrian route from a Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium entrance: sidewalk, plaza or covered walkway, with no freeway crossing and no shuttle. Anything beyond roughly a 18-minute walk, or separated by a highway, river or rail corridor with no crossing, is excluded — however close it looks on a map.
